Thoughts From My Shower #1
At HairyGrabster®, we spend a lot of time thinking about showers (and baths, and sinks, and wherever people wash their hair!) After all, our goal is to “make your shower – and your day – a little easier.” I tend to find I get some of my best ideas in the shower. Today’s great idea was “Five Things You’re Doing Right in the Shower.” No one needs another list telling them what they’re doing wrong – we all have children, family, or coworkers to highlight every mistake we make. So I’d like to make your day a little easier and show you how simply taking a shower improves you.
#1. First off, you’re taking a break from staring at screens. Whether you shower first thing in the morning, midday, or before bed, chances are you look at your phone or a screen before you jump in. Letting your eyes focus on the objects around you can help reduce eye strain and maintain ocular health.
#2. Your next accomplishment is getting alone/quiet time. Our days are interrupted constantly by notifications, calls, kids, dogs, etc. This has only escalated as so many of us spend all day, every day at home. Many people miss their commutes because they’ve lost their decompression time. We mentally benefit when we lock the world away and take time for ourselves.
#3. Now that your eyes are resting and you have ten minutes alone, you come to my favorite perk of showering – time to think. Sometimes you’re planning, other times you let your brain go stream-of-consciousness crazy. Wherever you need your thoughts to take you, you are giving your mind the time and space to work them out and move forward.
#4. This is the most obvious, but you are actually getting clean. That pays off for you and the rest of us. Thank you.
#5. You’re renewing yourself. So often you enter your shower tired, or frazzled, or viewing it as a chore. But once you step out of the shower, you feel refreshed, more grounded, and ready to face what’s next. You’ve washed away not only the physical dirt from your body, but much “mental dirt” as well. You have renewed body, mind, and spirit.
Good job you!
